Step 4Ward
is a Day Centre based in middle of the community of Winshill, Burton Upon Trent. It aims to offer Day Care for adults with learning difficulties where they will be supported to achieve goals based on their personal assessed needs and support plan. Community facilities and resources will be actively be searched and used to achieve the aims and objectives of Health and Community Care Act and promote Personalised Agenda. Step 4Ward aims to develop service that will fit the service user's needs.Assistance from Advocacy Services and from IMCA will be actively considered to ensure the service users are fully involved in decision making process.
Service will be available to anyone who need it and choose to use it regardless of their gender, religion, personal and social background, sexual orientation. Every effort shall be made to break cultural and language barriers. Hence information, where appropriate, shall be translated to service users' mother language as well as actively seek to use interpreting services as and when it is necessary. Step 4Ward intends to appoint multi-cultural and multi- lingual staff.
The venue will primarily be used as point of reference and for meeting point before setting off to business. However some in-house services and activities shall also be offered.
The proprietor who will also be managing the service is a qualified Social Worker and has 28 years' experience in Adult Care including 10 years in Day Care where worked as a Day Care / Development worker and Assistant Manager. She will take duties of smooth running of the Day Care, administration and will ensure all the policies and procedures are implemented and all Day Care Staff are adequately trained and are competent. She has training in Safe Guarding Adult Protection, Mental Capacity Act, and Social legislations for Adult Care. She is registered with General Social Care Commission.
The Deputy Manager has 14 years' experience in Adult Care that includes residential care for adults with learning difficulties and day care. She holds qualification in Sensory Integration in all Spectrum of Autism, and has training in First Aid, Health and Safety, Adult Protection/ Safe Guarding Vulnerable Adults, Manual Moving and Handling, Food Hygiene, Administration Medicine.
All employees of Step 4ward shall have relevant training- that will include First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene, Health and Safety, Moving and handling, Adult Protection, administering Medication, Risk Assessment- prior to taking up their duties and will be qualified NVQ level three or equivalent. All employees shall have two weeks induction.
All staff members will have CRB checks done prior to taking up their duties.
All staff are trained to at least NVQ level III in Social Care or equivalent and undertake relevant training that includes Health and Safety, Basic Food Hygiene, Safe-guarding Adults, Risk assessment, Administering Medication and First Aid.
Staff training is refreshed regularly.
